Sogemi has successfully commissioned a thermal sand regeneration plant, with a capacity of 500 kg/h, in Italy at the SCM cast iron foundry. The plant regenerates sand with furan process. Thanks to the heat exchanger incorporated in the machine, methane consumption is limited. Thermal regeneration is the most efficient method for reducing the loss on ignition of the sand. Although it is mainly used in non-ferrous foundries, it can also be a useful solution for ferrous foundries, helping to avoid issues related to the repurchase of new sand and the disposal costs of excess sand. Sogemi is a leader in this technology and has been developing thermal regeneration plants for over 30 years.
